Warrant Officer Joseph Moore

The background of this man is not known at present.

Joseph Moore enlisted in the 6th (Inniskilling) Dragoons Service Squadron between 23 and 25 November 1914 (No. UD/193 – later Corps of Dragoons No.21256).

He may have had prior military experience, for he was quickly promoted to the rank of sergeant.

On 6 October 1915 he embarked for France with his squadron, which was then serving as divisional cavalry to the 36th (Ulster) Division. By mid-February 1916, however, he had returned to the UK, probably due to illness.

He then returned to the squadron reserve depot at Enniskillen, where, at some point, he was promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer Class 2.

Moore was discharged on 3 August 1920.
