Private William Biggart


Private William Biggart, Royal Irish Fusiliers (Service No. 41388), formerly North Irish Horse (Service No. 1932). Born Inchinagh Lane, Ballymoney, County Antrim. Son of John and Mary Anne Biggart (nee McNeill), of Bendooragh, Ballymoney. Brother of John, Neil, Robert, Jeannie, Martha, Mary and Daniel. Prior to the war, employed as a farm labourer on the local estate at Leslie Hill. Died of wounds while a prisoner of war on 3 April 1918, aged 23. Having no known grave, his name is inscribed on Panel 76, Pozieres Memorial, Somme, France.
