Lieutenant Thomas Humphrey Hesketh

 

 

Thomas Humphrey Hesketh, of Cardiff, Wales, was the husband of Agna Myfanwy Hesketh.

He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant on 7 November 1914. In March 1916 he transferred from the 21st (Reserve) Battalion Welsh Regiment to the 8th Reserve Cavalry Regiment.

He joined the 2nd Regiment North Irish Horse at Flesselles on 11 August 1916 and was posted to A Squadron. The regimental diary make several mentions of his role over the following months leading road control and trench digging parties, the last reference being on 17 March 1917. 

Soon after, he left the North Irish Horse and joined the 1st Reserve Cavalry Regiment (Lancers). He was promoted to Lieutenant on 27 August 1917.

He died at Glasgow on 28 January 1919 of "Scarlet fever and Broncho Pneumonia", and was buried at Cathcart Cemetery, Renfrewshire, Scotland. His gravestone inscription reads:
