Rifleman Aubrey (Cyril) Morrison

Rifleman Aubrey (Cyril) Morrison enlisted in the North irish Horse between 17 and 25 August 1914 (Service No.1028). He was the son of William Todd Morrison and Madeline M. Morrison of Atlantic House, Antrim Road, Belfast, and grandson of Mr James Morrison, linen manufacturer of Keady, Armagh. Morrison was aged only 16 when he enlisted. In late 1916 he transferred to the 1st Battalion, Royal Irish Rifles (Service No.40933). He was killed in action on 16 August 1917 during the assault on Langemarck, part of the Third Battle of Ypres (Passchendaele), aged 18. No known grave. Commemorated at Tyne Cot Memorial, Zonnebeke, West-Vlanderen, Belgium, Panel 139.
