Trooper Albert Richards: 'Apres la guerre'

One of a series of hand-drawn postcards by Trooper Albert Ernest V. Richards of the 10th Royal Hussars (Service No. 1936), addressed to Miss M. Rust, New Empress Club, Piccadilly, London W. It reads:

On Active Service

10th Oct. 1915.

D M,

If I stay out here much longer my sketch will explain the rest. Hoping to have another letter from you soon.

Albert.

Albert was born in 1897 in Dolton, Devon, the son of Henry and Amy Richards. He arrived in France with the 10th Hussars on 6 October 1914, was promoted to Lance Corporal, and later qualified for a Silver War Badge (indicating that he was invalided out).
