Private John Carey

The background of this North Irish Horseman is not known at present.

John Carey enlisted in the North Irish Horse between 6 and 17 May 1916 (No.2165).

He trained at the regiment's Antrim reserve camp. In mid-September 1916, however, he was discharged for medical reasons (paragraph 392(iii)(cc), King's Regulations) being 'not likely to become an efficient soldier, recruit with more than three months service considered unfit for further military service'.

Note: The only reference to Carey's military service is in the service file of North Irish Horseman Archie Platt, who was discharged at the same time.
