Private Henry Carlyle

 

The background of this North Irish Horseman is not known at present.

Henry Carlyle enlisted in the North Irish Horse between 10 and 17 October 1916 (No.2292). He trained at the regiment's reserve camp at Antrim.

On 30 April 1917 he was one of ten North Irish Horsemen who transferred to the Machine Gun Corps (Cavalry) (No.105380). They embarked for France soon after this.

Carlyle remained with the MGC (Cavalry) until March 1918, when he transferred to the Royal Engineers (No. WR/42134) and was posted to the Road and Quarry Transport Section.
