Private Jeremiah Cupples

Jeremiah Cupples was born on 3 April 1895 at Quarter Lenagh, County Antrim, the sixth of ten children of blacksmith Jeremiah Cupples and his wife Margaret (née Craig). By the time of the 1911 Census he was living at nearby Lisnevanagh with his parents and six of his siblings.

Cupples enlisted in the North Irish Horse at some point prior to December 1915 (regimental number unknown). He served through the war as a farrier at the regimental reserve depot at Antrim.

At least one of Cupples's brothers, Thomas, also served in the war, in the 2nd Battalion, Canadian Railway Transport.
