Private John Dryburgh

John Dryburgh was born on 6 November 1896 at Cullybackey Road, Ballymena, County Antrim, the first of six children of Scottish-born iron ore mine manager, Captain John Dryburgh and his third wife, Lizzie (née Anderson). By the time of the 1911 Census he was living in Gladstone Terrace, Ballymena, with his parents, three siblings and a half-sister.

Dryburgh enlisted in the North Irish Horse between August 1914 and May 1915 (regimental number unknown). No further information has been discovered about his service with the regiment, but it is unlikely that he served overseas.
