Lieutenant Arthur Ferguson Ingram

Arthur Ferguson Ingram of The Whitegates, Rathfriland, County Down, son of the late Dr J. Ingram of Belfast, was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 10th (Service) Battalion Leicestershire Regiment on 3 June 1915. He was aged 22 at the time.
The above image in the Belfast Evening Telegraph stated that he was "late North Irish Horse".
Ingram transferred to the Army Cyclist Corps on 31 October 1915, and joined the 41st Divisional Cyclist Company.
On 20 April 1916 he faced a General Court Martial for being absent without leave from 5 to 10 April 1916. He was severely reprimanded and had his rank of precedence dated from 3 April 1916.
He transferred to the Royal Flying Corps on 3 October 1916 as a Flying Officer and was sent to Egypt. In early 1917 he came down with dysentery and returned home in May.
Promoted to Lieutenant on 3 October 1917, he was sent to France, but broke his leg on Christmas Day 1917 when "he fell into a trench when returning to his billet on slippery ground". He was evacuated home on 31 December.
