Private Matthew Jackson

Matthew Jackson was born at Dunadry, Antrim, son of Matthew and jane Jackson. He lived at 36 Baden Powell Street, Old Park Road, Belfast, and was a linen worker, aged 28, when he enlisted with the North Irish Horse at Antrim on 26 May 1915 (Service No.1627). He married Bessie Whiteside on 4 August 1915.
Jackson's service was cut short after he suffered a number of attacks of lumbago and rheumatism. He was discharged as no longer fit for military service on 9 March 1916.
