Private J. Lenaghan

 

 

Private Lenaghan enlisted with the 6th Inniskilling Dragoons (Service Squadron) in October or November 1914 (Service No.143). He arrived in France on 6 October 1915 with his Squadron, as Cavalry to the 36th (Ulster) Division.

In June 1916 the Squadron became part of the 2nd Regiment North Irish Horse. In August 1917 the Regiment was dismounted and became the 9th (North Irish Horse) Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers. Lenagan was posted to D Company and given Service No.41108.

He was posted as missing after the German offensive of March 1918, and was later found to be a prisoner of war.
