Private William Reynolds

William Reynolds (or McReynolds) was born around 1897 at Drumlane, Kilrea, County Londonderry, the fifth or sixth of seven children of farmer Robert Reynolds and his wife Mary Ann (née Dunlop). By the time of the 1911 Census he was living at nearby Tyanee with his parents and four surviving siblings and working on the family farm.

Reynolds enlisted in the North Irish Horse in January 1918 (regimental number not known at present). He would have trained at the regiment's Antrim reserve camp until the end of the war before being demobilised during 1919.

By 1920 he was living at Tyanee and working as a shoemaker. He married Isabella McKay on 28 September that year in the Kilrea Church of Ireland Parish Church.
