Private John Turnbull
The background of this North Irish Horseman is not known at present, other than that he was born around 1898.
John Turnbull enlisted in the North Irish Horse on 5 December 1916 (regimental number 2318 or 2320 – later Corps of Hussars No.71753). He trained at the regiment's Antrim reserve camp, remaining there for the duration of the war.
On 12 February 1919 he was discharged, being 'no longer physically fit for war service' (paragraph 392 (xvi), King's Regulations).
Soon after the war he was living at 99 Duncairn Gardens, Belfast. He later lived in Calcutta, India. He died on 7 January 1986.
