Private James White

The background of this North Irish Horseman is not known at present, other than that he was from Belfast.

James White enlisted in the North Irish Horse between 15 December 1917 and 8 January 1918 (Corps of Hussars No.72017). He trained at the regiment's Antrim reserve camp before embarking for France during 1918. There he was posted to one of the squadrons of the 1st North Irish Horse Regiment. This regiment had been dismounted and converted to a cyclist unit in February-March 1918, serving as corps cyclists to V Corps until the end of the war.

White was wounded in late August or early September 1918 at the beginning of the Advance to Victory offensive.

On 25 February 1919 he was demobilised and transferred to Class Z, Army Reserve.
