X Corps Cavalry Regiment Headquarters
When the 2nd North Irish Horse Regiment was formed in June 1916, serving as corps cavalry to X Corps, a regimental headquarters was appointed, comprising a lieutenant-colonel as commanding officer, and 39 officers and men. This establishment embarked at Southampton for France on the s.s. Pancras on 30 June 1916, its men sourced from Dragoon regiments of the 2nd Reserve Regiment of Cavalry at Aldershot. The officers are included among the full list of North Irish Horse officers elsewhere on this site. The men, those whose names have been identified, are listed below. (Note, however, that at about the same time, the 6th (Inniskilling) Dragoons Service Squadron, part of the 2nd North Irish Horse Regiment, was receiving reinforcements from the 2nd Reserve Cavalry Regiment, and some of these may be included in the list below.)
