Horsemen posted to the Nottinghamshire Yeomanry (Sherwood Rangers) and the Staffordshire Yeomanry (Queen's Own Royal Regiment)
On 19 January 1918 the Mid-Ulster Mail reported that:
Trooper M. Hagan, N.I.H., spent the week-end in Coagh before going out with a draft from Antrim Camp, which left for Egypt on Tuesday [15 January].
The party, comprising perhaps as many as fifty North Irish Horsemen, embarked from the UK on 19 January, arriving at Alexandria on 16 February.
When they reached Egypt the men were posted to the 1/1st Nottinghamshire Yeomanry (Sherwood Rangers) and the 1/1st Staffordshire Yeomanry (Queen's Own Royal Regiment). This could be done as a posting, rather than a transfer, because all three regiments were part of the Corps of Hussars, established as an amalgamation of a number of yeomanry and reserve regiments in September 1917. Having served in the Palestine campaign, it appears that by early 1919 at least some of those in the Sherwood Rangers were serving with the regiment in Servia.
