These pages tell the story of the 6th (Inniskilling) Dragoons Service Squadron, raised in the north of Ireland in 1914 as divisional cavalry for the 36th (Ulster) Division. Arriving in France in October 1915, the following year it became one of the three squadrons of the newly-formed 2nd North Irish Horse Regiment. In September 1917 the 2nd NIH Regiment was disbanded, with many of its officers and men, including those of the Inniskillings squadron, transferred to the 9th Battalion, Royal Irish Fusiliers, an infantry regiment.
